Chill on a boat in (and around) Breda

    From the water, everything looks different. A view from the water provides beautiful and unique cityscapes. Breda gives you space, even on or by the water!

    The canals of Breda are great to explore by boat. There is so much more to see from the water. Take a look at our historical city from a different perspective!     De Biesbosch

    When visiting the Breda region, you should definitely not miss out on De Biesbosch. The freshwater tidal area of De Biesbosch is a rare phenomenon, allowing you to experience both ebb and flow. But that's not all: the area is stunning to navigate through. Nowhere else will you find such a combination of breathtaking views on the horizon, beautiful flora and fauna, and plenty of space for recreational activities.

    The rugged nature of this marshland is best experienced from the water, whether in a boat or even a canoe. Paddling noiselessly through the narrowest creeks, ducking under low branches - you may even spot a beaver...

    Breda Canal Route

    You can explore Breda in a different way with a sloop. Enjoy a day trip along the canals all the way to Ginneken. Making a stop in De Haven for a snack at one of the terraces is highly recommended!

    De Haven originally was a part of the river Mark. In the Middle Ages, it had an open connection to the sea and sea fish were traded in Breda. De Haven was filled in from the sixties of the last century, but since 2007 the harbour is open again. Boats can moor at the new low quay. View the entire sailing route here.

    Turfvaart route

    Fancy a relaxing boat trip outside the city? The Turfvaart route takes you on a trip to Etten-Leur. Here you will pass through the rural area around Breda. The mooring spot at Etten-Leur is ideal for stretching your legs, then it's time to sail back 12 nautical miles.

    Market Walk

    A beautiful diverse trip along the Mark river in West-Brabant. You board the De Zilvermeeuw in the harbour of Drimmelen and sail through the Amertak and the harbours of Oosterhout to the Marksluis. This remotely operated lock is opened so that we can sail on the Mark. During this cruise, you will pass by the following places; Breda, Terheijden, Zevenbergen, Standdaarbuiten, Stampersgat, and Dinteloord.
