The Mastbos, created by Hendrik III of Nassau, is also known as the 'back garden of Breda'. From Duivelsbruglaan, you can walk straight into the forest! People from Breda, as well as many nature lovers from elsewhere, use the forest for walking and cycling, for sports and relaxation, or just to enjoy nature.

Are you going to Het Mastbos with children? Let gnome Daantje show you the way. You can start this route from Staatsbosbeheer at restaurant Boschwachter in the Mastbos. Along the 1.5-kilometre route, you will find 25 wooden gnomes. Can you find them all?

Follow the blue signs with the dog head! A nice route in the off-leash area where you can walk with your dog. Also a great route if you don't have a dog, of course. The walk even has a little extra for your four-legged friend: a real dog pool!

The Markdal owes its name to the river De Mark, which flows through the meadows south of Breda. To prevent waterlogging, Staatsbosbeheer has allowed the Mark to meander again. The natural areas along the riverbanks collect excess water. This allows nature to thrive.

It's wonderful to walk or cycle through the Markdal. There is a lot of greenery around the water. The water creates marshy banks in various places. You can enter the Markdal via the Duivelsbrug on foot or by bike. You can go further into Belgium, but the border town of Meerseldreef with its terraces and playground near 'de Paters' is a nice place to catch your breath. You can make the walk or bike ride along the Mark as long as you want. You can simply turn around when you've had enough!

Wolfslaar Estate has a rich history. As early as the 17th century, there was a farmhouse there. In 1862, the owner, Baroness Charlotte Storm-Cuypers, commissioned the construction of the mansion and coach house as we still know them today. You can enjoy going for a walk and cycling on the estate.

Take a stroll through the garden of the stately country house and the adjacent natural garden! You have a choice of four walking routes: a loop around ‘d’n akker’ (900 metres, ideal for children!), a loop on paved paths (1.1 kilometres, convenient for wheelchairs or pushchairs!), a cultural-historical loop (1.2 kilometres) and the big loop of 2.2 kilometres. Plenty of options!

Follow the river by bike through the Markdal. Discover the Baronie and cycle from Landgoed Wolfslaar towards Galder and Ulvenhout. A lovely cycling route right through nature. This part of Brabant is so beautiful!
