    Walking through the Markdal

    Just a short walk away from the city centre of Breda, you will find a lot of nature. One of these beautiful natural areas is Het Markdal. Het Markdal owes its name to the river De Mark, which flows through the meadows south of Breda. To prevent flooding, Staatsbosbeheer has allowed the Mark river to meander again. The natural areas along the riverbanks collect excess water. This gives nature every opportunity to thrive.

    The surroundings of Breda have so much beauty to offer! Hop on your bike and explore the greenery around the city. Soon you will discover that the region is rich in local products and charming local shops. During this route, you will cycle past a number of atmospheric farm shops in the Breda area.

    Walking or cycling in Het Mastbos

    The Mastbos, created by Hendrik III of Nassau, is also known as the 'back garden of Breda'. You can easily enter the forest from the Ginneken neighbourhood.
