Zout & Citroen

Street food and beer are the source of inspiration at Zout & Citroen: a beautiful restaurant in the old Koetshuys (Carriage house) in Oosterhout that has been awarded a Michelin star.

On 13th January, Michelin presented its 2020 guide. Eight restaurants received a star for the first time, including Zout & Citroen in Oosterhout. Owners Bram and Patricia Helleman, this was a big surprise, as Bram says: "Getting a Michelin star was not a specific goal for us. We do what we love. Street food and beer are our sources of inspiration. And that appealed to the Michelin inspector."

At Zout & Citroen, you can enjoy a classic French cuisine with a twist. Eastern influences and oriental herbs provide delightful surprises. It pairs well with a good glass of wine, but also very surprisingly with a nice craft beer, according to Bram: "Our dishes go very well with a good beer. Our beer menu features beers from all over the world. We are proud of our collaborations with 3 Fonteinen, Antidoot wild ferments, Bokke and Cantillon. But we also simply offer a nice IPA."

You can find Zout & Citroen in the old Koetshuys of Slotje Brakestein, which is part of the city park in Oosterhout. Amidst the bustling city centre, this monumental location with a romantic garden provides a peaceful backdrop for the pure creations of the kitchen team. Enjoy!
