Breda Jazz Festival 2024

In Breda, if you say 'Ascension Day', you're talking about the 'Jazz Festival', which has become inseparable from Breda after more than fifty editions. Local and international artists and a quarter of a million visitors from all over the globe manage to find our hospitable city year after year. Whether you prefer old style, modern or related styles, the festival offers it all.

On this page, we will guide you with practical information, ten essential things to do during this festival and all the details about the more than twenty stages.

All locations of the Breda Jazz Festival

The Breda Jazz Festival takes place on more than twenty stages in the city centre. Both indoors and outdoors, each with its own atmosphere or music genre. We created an overview so that you can see the forest for the trees and visit the places that you will enjoy the most.

10 x what you absolutely must do during the Breda Jazz Festival

With hundreds of concerts, you can't see and listen to everything. Choice stress! The organization of the Breda Jazz Festival tipped us ten highlights.

Parking during the Breda Jazz Festival

The best way to reach Breda is by train, of course. It's more sustainable and the city centre is only a ten-minute walk from the station.
Moreover, street orchestras along that route roll out a musical red carpet to get you in the mood right away.

Coming by car? Check out our  page on parking garages and areas in Breda. You can park for free at the NAC stadium. From there, city bus line 2 departs to the city. Check the timetable.

(Extra) bike sheds

In Breda you can safely and for free park your bike at the guarded bike storage facilities. View all information here. During the Breda Jazz Festival, additional bike storage facilities are available at the Oude Vest and Adriaan van Bergenstraat.

Please note! Park your bike in one of the storage facilities or at the so-called 'nietjes'. If you don't do this, there is a chance that Enforcement will take your bike to the municipal depot. There, you can collect it for a fee of € 25.00. A word to the wise...

Breda brings cups to the bar

In Breda, we also try to reduce litter as much as possible.
We do this by using recyclable plastic cups during major events. When you make your first purchase, you pay an extra euro as a contribution to the system. If you return your cup when ordering a new drink, you don't have to pay that euro. The aim is to reduce the number of plastic cups ending up in the streets in this way. The returned cups are collected and processed by a recycling company into new cups.

For other waste, bins are available on the festival grounds. Together we keep the city centre clean and safe.

Practical Information

Accessibility
In principle, the stages are easily accessible for people with disabilities, but crowds might throw a spanner in the works. For indoor concerts, it is useful to report to the stage manager on duty when you enter. He/she can help you further.

A euro for the music
During the Breda Jazz festival, there are hundreds of concerts you can listen to for free thanks to sponsors and hundreds of volunteers. Show your appreciation and give a contribution to the 'Peak for the music volunteers' walking around the city.

Information Point / Lost and Found
There is an information point for the Breda Jazz Festival at the Grote Markt. Here you can go with all your questions about the festival. It is also the place where you can report lost or found items.

Explore Breda Store
Just behind the Grote Markt, at the Stadserf, you will find the new Explore Breda Store for all (tourist) information about Breda.

First Aid
The main first aid station is located at Kasteelplein, but there are also first aiders walking around the city centre. Feel free to approach them. If you are unable to walk to Kasteelplein, ask for help at the nearest stage from one of the Jazz Festival staff. They can be recognised by their badge and/or crew t-shirt.

Toilets
In addition to the usual public toilets, there are toilet trailers located at the Stadserf, Kasteelplein, and near the Spanjaardsgat. The toilet trailers at Stadserf and Kasteelplein also have facilities for people with disabilities.

And just this:
Breda Jazz Festival volunteers drive around the city in vans to make sure artists and instruments are in the right place at the right time. This can sometimes be a bit of a hassle in the busy city centre, but if everyone gives in a bit to let them through, they will be fine. Remember that in their spare time they make sure you can enjoy four days of jazz music and give them a thumbs up!
