The three castle gardens in English, French, and German style were built between 1913 and the 1930s. The gardens are known for the many types of fuchsias and the special sculpture collection. Over the years, Kasteel Bouvigne has had various owners. Since 1973, the Brabantse Delta water board has owned this country estate.

This beautiful estate is definitely worth a visit. The gardens are freely accessible during office hours. The castle itself is only open on open days.

    In Royal Hands

In 1614, Philips Willem van Oranje bought the house 'Boeverijen' for 27,000 guilders. Philip William, the oldest son of William of Orange, was the Baron of Breda from 1609 to 1618.

    Did you know that...

The estate was not always called 'Bouvigne'. Until 1802, the name 'Boeverijen' was used. The wealthy coffee planter George Ruysch renovated the castle and Frenchified the name to Bouvigne. In Speelbos de Boeverijen, diagonally opposite Bouvigne, the ancient name is used again.
